Acknowledged by his peers for his bold and imaginative use of color and a self-avowed student of composition, Ed Booth brings to his images a sense of life and vibrancy not often found in contemporary works.

A keen sense of how man interacts with nature, and of how nature often has the upper hand in those interactions, is another of the hallmarks of Ed's work.

Ed paints in a loose impressionistic style and readily admits to being influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gaugin and Robert Clunie as well as contemporary masters Richard Coons and Howard Behrens. Perhaps his greatest art "hero" is LeRoy Nieman. Nieman's ability to combine line and form with abstract expressionism greatly influences Ed's work with portraiture, especially of athletes.

In this vein is a new series of work of athletes and entertainers doing what they do best. So far Ed has completed images of Kansas City Chiefs all pro running back Christian "The Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye and long jump world record holder Mike Powell. Many more are in the works so come back often! Additionally, The Bayne Gallery will soon have available limited edition canvas giclees from his growing collection of celebrity images.

Ed also has a deep and abiding love of nature. Influenced by Clunie and Coons, he is starting to explore the Eastern Sierra Nevada — John Muir's "Range of Light." The Bayne Gallery will soon have available limited edition canvas giclees from his growing collection of Eastern Sierra images.

Not only does he paint images depicting the beauty of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, he is also a member of and major donor to the Eastern Sierra Land Trust, a group devoted to preserving the open space of the Eastern Sierra.
