Lake Sabrina The first in a series of images taken from California's Sierra Nevada mountains, this image is of a Southern California Edison Reservoir on the east side of the Sierra Nevada up near the top of Bishop Creek Canyon. The view is from the dam and is of a crisp autumn day. The lake is at 9,000 feet so autumn comes early! Note how the different stands of aspen take on different hues. Water Birch, Onion Valley, Eastern Sierra Nevada This image is of a stand of water birch, a shrubby member of the birch family, alongside Independence Creek in Onion Valley, which is the trailhead to Kearsarge Pass - a major trail east west trail pass through the southern sierra. I was captivated by the vibrant colors of the autumn leaves against a brillian blue sky and thus painted this somewhat abstract rendering to try to capture the mood and rythym of a beautiful fall day.
